SARS-CoV-2

Genomics of SARS-CoV-2

We are sequencing samples of SARS-CoV-2 from Hawaii to understand the spread of the virus in Hawaii in relation to the US and the world. Genomic sequencing and analysis via phylodynamics holds great promise in tracing the transmission chains of the virus, and understanding its spatial and temporal dynamics.

Genotyping of SARS-CoV-2

We are identifying the strains of SARS-CoV-2 present in Hawaii to understand how the virus is evolving. We are particularly interested mutations associated with transmission and mortality, and how prevalence of the virus provides opportunities for viral adaptation.
